WWDC 2013: New Camera App in iOS 7 – Filters, Collections, Moments, and Years

Apple announced iOS 7 at their Worldwide Developers Conference today, and included in the numerous new and updated features in the new OS is an updated Camera app.

The enhanced app includes such new features as filters, which can be applied to your photos. The app will allow you to pick a filter and view the effect before you take the picture. You can also apply filters to photos you’ve previously taken. If you ever change your mind later, you can remove the filter. Filters include: Mono, Tonal, Noir, Fade, Chrome, Process, Transfer, and Instant.

The camera app will also allow you to swipe between what type of action you want to capture. Still, video, panorama, and even square are now options.

For use with the Camera app, Photos will now include a new ability to view photos as collections.

From Apple’s iOS 7 Website:

Now there are faster, easier, and more delightful ways to scroll down memory lane. Introducing Collections, Moments, and Years — smart groupings of your photos and videos based on time and place. Tap Years and all your shots fill the screen. Each year holds Collections, like your trip to San Francisco. And in that Collection are distinct Moments — photos from Union Square, videos from AT&T Park. So you can find a shot from whenever, wherever, in no time.
