In what is seemingly a very recent change, Apple is now limiting the types of characters developers can include in their app descriptions on the App Store, AppleInsider reports. Banned characters include emojis, checkmarks and speech bubbles.

Apple is no longer allowing developers to submit app description edits with the unique character sets, which in this case includes a checkmark, explosion, “no symbol” and a speech bubble. It is thought that others are included in the new restrictions, but that has yet to be verified.
Apple’s move would certainly hint at their desire for a more uniform, clean experience on the App Store, and according to another developer, the changes were enforced from April 19, which is why the vast majority of app descriptions might still feature checkmarks and emojis.
