Microsoft has reportedly raised its pricing on the Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 productivity suite by as much as 17%, and has also stopped selling multi-license packages of the popular software package. The move is seen as an effort by the Redmond company to drive consumers to its $99 a year Office 365 subscription program.

It’s not clear when Microsoft raised prices. The oldest search engine cache Computerworld found with the new prices was Feb. 2, so the company boosted them before then, likely on Jan. 29, the day it launched Office 2013 and Office 365 Home Premium. Microsoft did not mention the changes to Office for Mac in its press releases that day, or otherwise publicize the move on its Mac-specific website.
Apple offers Office Home and Student Edition for $139.95, and the Home and business Edition for $219.95. Amazon offers an Office 2011 for Home and Student Family Pack (3 users) for $109.49.
Office 365 Home Premium costs $100 annually or $10 per month, and provides a single household license that allows subscribers to install Office on up to five Macs or PCs. Home Premium launched Jan. 29.
