Kids love cartoons, but let’s face it, not all of the cartoons children are bombarded with are parent-friendly. They may not teach the values you want your kids to grown up with, or they may be too violent. Well, there just may be a solution, Toon Goggles, the 100% parent-friendly cartoon video streaming app that kids can watch anywhere.
Overview
Toon Goggles bills themselves as a children’s entertainment online channel offering child and parent friendly cartoons (clips, trailers, episodes, and features).
The free iOS app allows kids to view cartoons no matter where they may be. And the company says parents won’t need to worry, as their service is 100% parent friendly.
The cartoons available through the app are not the average Saturday morning, or Cartoon Network that children have been bombarded with since the dawn of television. This may be a drawback with some children, as they’ll be disappointed there’s no Spongebob Squarepants, or My Little Pony in the numerous cartoons, but if they give the shows a chance, they just may find they like them.
The menus used in the app are big and bright, and should be easy for children to navigate. There are 6 categories to choose from: boys, girls, action, comedy, preschool, and educational cartoons.
Each cartoon has 3 free episodes you can watch. If you wish to view any of the other episodes, a monthly subscription is available for $4.99 a month. (You do get to try the service with a one-month free trial membership.) If the viewer is a registered viewer, (registration is free), he or she can “favorite” any episode for easier access for later viewings.
The streaming of the episodes is smooth and quick, on either wi-fi or 3G . The app runs on iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, and if your device of choice is cellular capable, you may want to watch the data consumption, as repeated viewing could go a long way towards eating up your monthly data allowance.
Verdict
Toon Goggles is a great little program, sure to keep your kids entertained with parent-friendly programming that kids will still loved.
The cartoons in the app aren’t any of the popular series as seen on TV, but that could really be a good thing.
If you have kids, give the app a try. If you’re concerned it might not be right for your kids, sit down with them and view some of the cartoons. You can also check out the service out their website.

Pros:
- Wholesome cartoons for kids, that’s a good thing.
- Easy to navigate, with colorful menus.
- The free cartoons could be enough to keep your kids entertained for hours.
Cons:
- The cartoons themselves don’t fill up the screen. It’s a lot like watching SD entertainment on a HD screen. Especially obvious on the iPhone 5 screen.
- If you’re not careful the streaming cartoons could eat up your 3G/4G monthly data allowance.
