Despite that Apple just released new MacBooks on Monday, rumors have already begun to service about MacBooks yet to come. Specifically, a 13-inch version of the MacBook Pro with Retina Display is rumored to be launching sometime in October.
The claim comes by way of KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has an excellent track record of late, having accurately predicted that the 17-inch MacBook Pro would be discontinued, and having reported that the new Retina MacBook Pro would launch alongside traditional MacBook Pros (as a separate product line).

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI shared in a note with AppleInsider on Thursday that he expects Apple to ramp up production of a 13-inch next-generation MacBook Pro with Retina display in September. That would allow the product to hit stores in early October, in time for the holiday shopping season.
According to the report, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display did not launch at WWDC due to production concerns. The device is expected to ship without an optical drive, as with its 15-inch counterpart, and will feature a similarly smaller casing. Also, unlike the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro, the 13-inch version is not expected to have discrete graphics – instead, it is expected to rely on Intel’s integrated graphics.
While Kuo’s claims should be taken seriously, especially considering the analyst’s track record, it’s still worth noting that is is still a rumor, and cannot yet be confirmed. Still, a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro does make sense.
