As if there wasn’t already enough speculation about Apple’s next iPhone, iFixyouri (via 9to5Mac) has provided supposed images of the upcoming iPhone’s backplate, showing a smaller dock connector, and a design which closely follows many of the rumors heard about the device so far.
iFixyouri claims that the part comes from a “reliable” Chinese supplier who is actually selling the part. The backplate shows a smaller dock connector and an apparently thinner build, and is designed to compliment a new higher quality set of speakers intended for the next-gen iPhone.
The backplate is also made mostly of an aluminum alloy (previous rumors suggested a metal back), and the headphone jack appears on the bottom of the casing rather than the top. Also quite interesting is that, according to the supplier, the next iPhone will come in additional colors rather than only black and white.
Of course, this could be a part from one of Apple’s prototype devices, and it may not be an “iPhone 5” part at all. Previous reports have claimed that Apple has not yet finalized the design of the next iPhone.
Update: 9to5Mac has received high resolution photos of these parts, as well as a supposed front panel and frame for the next-gen iPhone.
