After being awarded a knighthood back in December, Jony Ive has now received the medal at Buckingham Palace after being knighted by Princess Anne, the BBC reports. Ive said the honor was ‘really thrilling and particularly humbling’ and flew over to the UK to collect it with his wife and eight year old twin sons.
Ive even managed a chat with the Princess Royal, where they discussed her iPad and how often he comes back to the UK.
Born in East London, Ive attended Newcastle Polytechnic (now Northumbria University) before joining Apple in 1992. His most influential designs include the iMac, iPod, iPad and iPhone, with Walter Isaacson describing him as Steve Jobs’s ‘spiritual partner’ in his biography.
Ive has not been short of awards recently, also winning the title of British Visionary Innovator in April.
Apple’s design guru also gave a rare interview to The Telegraph during his time in London, which you can read about here.
