How to: Remove Attachments Prior To Archiving
E-mail by its nature can be an incredible small file but with larger internet speeds and the introduction of fancy looking emails plus attachments your email application is generally harbouring a significant amount of data that may not be needed.
An example of this is receiving an email with an attachment. The email content may be important but many times the attachment is not.
Within Apple Mail there is a way to remove the attachment completely prior to archiving the email into a specific folder for example.
All you need to do is have the email in question open and then navigate to Message > Remove Attachments from the Menu Bar as shown in the image below:
Once selected the attachments will be removed. The content in your email will remain the same but you will have the following notice in the main body of the email indicating that the attachment has in fact been deleted:
Please note that there is no undo for this feature hence once the attachment is deleted it is gone for good.
