Japanese business news site Nikkei reports (via Macotakara) that a Tokyo couple has been awarded ¥600,000 (about $7,425) in damages from Apple Japan after a first-gen iPod nano caught fire, apparently causing burn injuries and other damage in the process.
It’s not uncommon for first-gen iPod nanos to overheat in this manner, in fact Apple has recalled the device in 20 separate countries due to overheating issues. Nikkei notes that Apple is rarely found at fault in such cases, although I’m sure that Tokyo couple is glad they were found at fault this time around.
