The Apple Keynote just ended, and some great new products and some fascinating facts and figures were shared along the way. We thought we’d share them with you (Images courtesy of The Verge).
- Apple’s “post PC devices” (iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad) made up 76% of Apple’s revenues. Last year alone, they sold 172 million post-PC devices. 62 million were sold in Q4 alone.
- Just a few days ago, a lucky customer in Japan downloaded the 25 billionth app. A mind boggling number.
- There are 100 million iCloud users.
- iTunes in the cloud will now support movies.
- Siri now speaks Japanese. It’s part of iOS 5.1 (available today,) and will be rolled out in Japan over the next few weeks.
- The new Apple TV will now support viewing of TV shows and movies in 1080p resolution.
- Photo Stream is now supported on Apple TV.
- The new 1080p interface on the Apple TV resembles a TV version of iOS, with icons, apps, and cover flow.
- Apple TV will now recommend movies for you based on what you’ve previously viewed.
- Apple TV will be available on March 16th for $99. Pre-orders are available today.
- 15.4 million iPads were sold in the last quarter alone.
- Over 200,000 apps have been custom built for the iPad.
The new iPads display is a Retina Display, with a resolution of 2048 X 1536 (3.1 million pixels.), with 40% Better Color Saturation.
It has A5X quad core graphics.
New cameras all around, with an iSight camera on the front face, to use with FaceTIme, and possibly Skype. Rear-facing camera now has 5 megapixel resolution, a 5-element lens, IR filter, and ISP built into the A5X chip. It will record 1080p video, with software stabilization.
The new iPad now has Voice Dictation, it supports US English, British, Australian, French, German and Japanese.
4G LTE is now available with 21Mbps HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA at 42Mbps, with LTE taking the cake at 73Mbps. A personal hotspot capability will be available for carriers that support it.
Still 10 hours of battery life. 9 hours on 4G!
It’s 9.4mm thin, weighing 1.4lbs.
Prices: Wi-Fi Only: $499 for 16GB, 32GB is $599 and 64GB for $699. No 128GB yet. 4G: $629, $729 and $829.
