Earlier this month we told you about Bloomberg‘s claim that iPad 3 production had already begun for a March launch. Today, new information has arisen providing additional details about the device.
BGR reports on images received from an anonymous source seemingly confirming previously suspected details about the device:
A source claiming to be in possession of an iPad 3 prototype provided BGR with images containing details about Apple’s highly anticipated third-generation tablet. From the data in the photos, which contain the output from an iPad 3 using a development and debug tool called iBoot, we can infer plenty of information about the upcoming iPad 3.
The images show the output from a development tool called iBoot, and could be from an iPad 3. The images reference two model numbers, J1 and J2, which DigiTimes recently reported as the iPad 3’s model names. As it turns out, these appear not to be two different devices – just a Wifi and 4G (yes, 4G) version of the same tablet.
Further details from the images show that the device will include Apple’s A6 processor – a quad-core custom chip that should deliver gut-wrenchingly fast speeds. The report also indicates that the upcoming next-gen iPad will feature 4G LTE connectivity for the first time ever in an Apple device.
Whether the report is actually accurate remains to be seen, but with Bloomberg having made similar comments recently, and the fact that the provided images seem to be fairly convincing outputs from iBoot, I’d be surprised if this didn’t have quite a bit of merit.
