iOS developer Avatron has released a new app called Air Dictate ($0.99, App Store link), allowing you to use your iPhone 4S and Siri to dictate into any application on your Mac, including Microsoft Office and Apple’s iWork.
The app requires a small helper app to run on your Mac to accept input, and for the target application to already be open on your Mac.
Using the app is simple – simply launch Air Dictate, choose your target Mac from the automatically generated list, tap the microphone button and begin speaking. Your speech is then converted by Siri’s dictation technology and automatically beamed to your Mac.
While the app is fairly limited at the moment, the possibilities are interesting. Even in its current state, however, the app is quite useful, essentially transforming your Mac into your own personal secretary without using expensive software like Dragon Dictate.
Air Dictate is available now for just $0.99 (App Store link), and for the price, I recommend giving it a try!
