According to a new report from Cydia Blog (via MacRumors), the microphone flex cable for the iPad 3 has been leaked, and shows a unique design compared to the iPad 2, suggesting that the next-gen iPad will be completely redesigned.
The new part, when compared with iPad 2, shows a different arrangement in internal circuitry, hinting a major re-design. The tail end of the part makes a “U-turn”, whereas the iPad 2′s Microphone Mic Flex Cable makes almost 90-degree turn both ways. Except for few details, the leaked part so far doesn’t offer a tantalizing tease.
Assuming that this rumor is true, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Apple will make significant cosmetic changes to the next-gen iPad. It’s equally possible that the bulk of the design changes will be present inside the device.
Previous rumors have shown a supposed leaked dock connector and ribbon cable for the next-gen tablet, and recent rumors suggest that Apple is already receiving Retina display panels, and will be launching the iPad 3 in early 2012.
