Apple’s Find my iPhone app can help you locate your iPhone if you lose it, or even disable your device if its stolen, but now the app has now done something even bigger – helping put an armed robbery suspect behind bars!
9to5Mac shares a report from the LA Times, in which a male suspect entered a woman’s home at gunpoint, stole her purse (with her iPhone inside), and left, thinking he’d gotten away with it.
After calling the police, thinking quickly, the victim remembered she has Find my iPhone. The police were then able to use the service, which led them directly to the suspect.
The LAPD later advised the LA Times (and their readers) that it’s important to use tracking software whenever possible. Kudos, Apple!
