Apple will be closing many of its retail stores for an hour tomorrow (October 19th), reports The Wall Street Journal, in remembrance of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. The hour-long closure coincides with a private celebration of Steve Jobs’ life to be held for Apple employees at the company’s Cupertino headquarters.
Retail employees were informed that the closure was due to a private company event, although a previous email issued by Tim Cook revealed that Apple would be holding a memorial for Steve Jobs on the same day.
The email the Tim Cook sent out describes the memorial event as a way “to take time to remember the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he made our world a better place.”
