It’s long been speculated whether Apple will announce a revamped “iPhone 5” or an upgraded “iPhone 4s” at their October 4th event. It now looks likely that Apple may in fact announce both an iPhone 4s AND an iPhone 5.
Two TUAW readers sent in the below screenshots taken from Cincinnati Bell’s website that show listings for an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 4s. The products have since been removed from the website.
The iPhone 5 listing details an iPhone with an 8MP camera, a 4″ screen, and 4G support. The 32GB model shown in the screenshot (albeit without an image) will cost in the region of $639.99. It would seem that because the iPhone 5 is listed on the Cincinnati Bell website, a regional carrier, the iPhone 5 will likely be available as a pay-as-go phone and be carrier free.
Meanwhile, an iPhone 4s is also listed on the same website with a 5MP camera, 3’5″ screen, and an A5 processor. This model is priced at $99.99 but has a “regular price” of $400. If the iPhone 4s is to be priced at under $100 it will be a clear attempt by Apple to tackle the lower end of the smartphone market currently dominated by Android powered phones.
If true, the imminent announcement of an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 4s is great news. But then again, this could be an elaborate hoax.
