According to a new report from Macotakara, Apple’s next-gen iPhone 4 will be launching in its first 5 markets (U.S., U.K., Germany, Japan & France) on October 14th, with launches in additional countries to follow.
The date lines up nicely with prior comments from France Telecom CEO Stéphane Richard, who said that the iPhone 5 would launch from Orange on October 15th, which is a Saturday. Apple launched the original iPhone, the iPhone 3G and the 3GS all on Fridays, with the iPhone 4 breaking the trend with a Thursday launch.
The rumored date of October 14th also lines up with a number of predictions offered by various tech writers and pundits, as well as with my own prediction. It should be noted, however, that Macotakara has a mixed record in terms of accuracy, so this should still be taken as speculation until Apple announces a release date at their expected October 4th media event.
