Apple has now confirmed that they will sell 3G-equipped iPad 2 tablets in the Chinese consumer market on Wednesday, reports TheNextWeb. The device was previously unavailable to purchase from China Apple Stores, presumably due to political issues.
The tablet will be available through Chinese Apple Retail Stores and the Apple Online Store, as well as through authorized third-party resellers. The models appear to be reasonable priced considering the exchange between Honk Kong and US prices, as the 16Gb model will run RMB 4,688, which is respectably close to the converted US price of RMB 4,300.
Apple’s Chinese carrier partner, China Unicom, has yet to acknowledge the rollout, although they are the only Chinese carrier currently capable of supporting the HSPA 3G capabilities of the iPad 2.
