Apple today seeded the third beta of visionOS 2.2 to developers for testing. The third beta seed comes one week after the second beta seed.
The visionOS 2.2 beta brings the promised “Wide” and “Ultrawide” modes to the Mac Virtual Display feature. The Mac Virtual Display allows Apple Vision Pro users to use the headset as an external display for their Mac. While the feature has been available in visionOS, the “Wide” and “Ultrawide” modes are new in this beta seed.
The Mac Virtual Display features a higher resolution and larger size, making it appear to be an ultra-wide display equal to two side-by-side 4K monitors.
visionOS 2.2 will likely be released to the public in December (likely Monday, December 9) alongside the iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, macOS Sequoia 15.2, watchOS 11.2, tvOS 18.2 updates.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver Vision Pro. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
