Apple Seeds Third Beta of tvOS 18.2 to Developers and Public Beta Testers, Brings Long-Awaited Snoopy Screensavers

Apple has released the third beta of tvOS 18.2 to developer and public beta testers for testing ahead of it’s release. The third beta comes one week after the release of the second betas.

The tvOS 18.2 beta is compatible with the Apple TV 4K (1st and 2nd generation) and the ‌Apple TV‌ HD. The new beta can be downloaded to a compatible Apple TV that has the proper profile installed, which can be done by downloading it onto the ‌Apple TV‌ using Xcode.

Public beta testers who have signed up for Apple’s beta testing program can install the tvOS 18.2 public beta by opening up the Settings app on Apple TV, clicking on the “Software Updates” section under “System,” and then toggling on the “Get Public Beta Updates” option.

Today’s beta seed brings the long-awaited selection of new Snoopy screen savers that can be set as an alternative to the aerial, memory, and portrait screen saver options.

Apple first announced the Snoopy screen savers in June when it first unveiled tvOS 18, but there had been no sign of them since then. Todays beta seed remedies that omission.

Apple’s existing partnership with Peanuts includes a Snoopy watch face for the Apple Watch, as well as Peanut specials and classic episodes on Apple TV+.

As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver Apple TV, especially early betas of new operating systems. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
