Button, button, where is the M4 Mac mini’s power button? When you take your new M4 Mac mini out of the box on November 8th, you may have a “where’s the power button?” moment when you go to turn it on.
The new M4 Mac mini, unveiled earlier this week, packs a lot of power into a tiny (5-inch by 5-inch) package. Unfortunately, to make everything fit, Apple had to choose fashion over function.
Apple placed the power button on the bottom of the device, so physically turning the new Mac mini on or of will require you to tip the mini up from the left rear corner, directly below the three Thunderbolt ports.
Luckily, I’d venture to say that most Mac users don’t fully turn off the Mac at the end of the day, instead placing them in sleep mode, to be awakened by a touch of the keyboard or click of the mouse. (My M1 Mac mini has only been completely powered down a handful of times in the years I’ve owned it.)
The Mac mini has a base price of $599, and it can be pre-ordered. It will hit store shelves and be delivered to pre-order customers on Friday, November 8.
