No More Downgrading: Apple Stops Signing iOS 18.0 Following Release of iOS 18.0.1

Apple released iOS 18.0.1, and as is traditional, it has now stopped signing iOS 18, making downgrading to that version of iOS no longer possible. iOS 17.6.1 is now the only publicly released version of iOS available.

The iOS 18.0.1 software can be downloaded on compatible devices over the air by going to “Settings” -> “General” -> “Software Update.”

The iOS 18.0.1 update included fixes for the following issues:

  • Touch screen may be temporarily unresponsive in certain circumstances on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models
  • Camera may freeze when recording macro mode video on the Ultra Wide camera in 4K with HDR turned off on iPhone 16 Pro models
  • Messages may unexpectedly quit when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch face
  • Performance may be impacted due to an issue with memory allocation on some iPhones

While falling back to an older iOS version is often used by users who jailbreak their iPhones, it can also be helpful for users who experience significant bugs after upgrading to the latest version of iOS.
