Apple TV+ Is Coming to Prime Video Channels as Add-On Subscription Later This Month

Apple TV+ Is Coming to Prime Video Channels as Add-On Subscription Later This Month

Amazon has announced that Apple TV+ will be available as an add-on subscription through Prime Video in the United States later this month. The Apple TV+ add-on will be available for $9.99 per month from directly within the Prime Video app.

The new partnership will make Apple’s streaming service available to a wider audience via the popular Amazon Prime Video streaming platform, while offering the convenience of merged billing and eliminates the need to download another app to your device. Apple TV+ subscribers enjoy content that includes popular shows, including “Slow Horses,” “The Morning Show,” and “Ted Lasso,” as well as Major League Baseball doubleheaders on Friday nights and Major League Soccer matches.

Today’s move should simplify the subscription process for Prime Video users who were previously unfamiliar with how to access Apple TV+.

Mike Hopkins, senior VP of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, said the move is part of Amazon’s strategy to expand Prime Video’s offerings and allow customers to “personalize their streaming experience within a single app.”

“Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering a wide selection of premium programming including Amazon MGM Studios Originals, live sports, licensed movies and series, the industry’s largest catalog of titles to rent or buy, and over 100 additional streaming subscriptions,” said Mike Hopkins, Senior Vice President and Head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, “As we continue to expand our offering and make it easy for customers to personalize their streaming experience directly in one app, we are proud to welcome Apple TV+ and its popular and critically-acclaimed shows, films and events to Prime Video.”

Apple’s senior VP of services Eddy Cue said the Cupertino company is thrilled to be available on Prime Video:

“We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the world’s greatest storytellers available to as many viewers as possible. We’re thrilled that Prime Video will now offer Apple TV+, giving viewers an incredible breadth of viewing options.”

Apple also offers third-party video subscriptions through its Apple TV Channels feature, though Prime Video is not currently available as an Apple TV Channel.

Neither company has announced specific details of the deal. However, it should be beneficial to both sides, as it provides more visibility and potential subscribers for Apple TV+, while Amazon improves its content offerings on its streaming service.
