The sixth beta of iOS 18.1 and the fourth beta of watchOS 11.1, both released earlier today, finally add support got sleep apnea on iPhone that have been running the iOS 18.1 beta before the release of the Apple Watch Series 10.
As noted by MacRumors, Sleep apnea alerts first debuted in iOS 18 and watchOS 11 on the Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra 2. However, users running the iOS 18.1 and watchOS 11.1 betas never received the iOS 18 and watchOS 11 updates that added the feature, so it had been missing for many beta testers.
If you have had the iOS 18.1 and watchOS 11.1 betas installed on your devices and haven’t been able to access the sleep apnea feature, you’ll see it after installing today’s beta seeds. This only applies to those users that did not previously have the sleep apnea feature available in the betas.
After updating your iPhone and Apple Watch, you will need to set up sleep apnea notifications in the Health app. You’ll be required to answer a few questions, including your age and whether you have previously been diagnosed with sleep apnea to enable the feature.
Keep in mind that you will not immediately begin receiving sleep apnea notifications. The Apple Watch needs to collect 10 days worth of Breathing Disturbance data for analysis.
