The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature bigger battery capacities compared to previous models and the iPhone 16 Pro handset could get the biggest capacity increase, says a leaker.
Chinese Weibo-based leaker Instant Digital today posted the mAh (milliampere-hours) figures for the iPhone 16 Pro (3,577 mAh) and iPhone 16 Pro Max (4,676 mAh). Only the larger model capacity lines up with previous leaked figures.
The mAh is a measure of battery capacity (the amount of electric charge that a battery can store). The higher the mAh rating of a battery, the more charge it can store, and the longer it can provide power to a device.
The leaker says the iPhone 16 Pro will sport a 3,577 mAh battery, compared to the current iPhone 15 Pro’s 3,274 mAh, for a +9.25% increase. Meanwhile Instant Digital says the iPhone 16 Pro Max will boast a 4,676 mAh capacity battery, compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 4,422 mAh power cell, for a +5.74% increase in storage.
We’ve seen rumors that this year’s iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 30-hour-plus battery life (compared to 29 hours for the current Pro Max). The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to use stacked battery technology, increasing energy density and prolonging the battery’s lifespan.
