Apple on Monday unveiled its upcoming watchOS 11 update for the Apple Watch. The new release includes several new widgets, including a built-in Shazam widget for music identification. While Shazam has been available for the Apple Watch through the App Store, it hasn’t been available in the Watch’s Smart Stack.
As reported by MacRumors, Apple is planning to add a Shazam widget to Smart Stack in watchOS 11, making it easier to get to Shazam without the need to install an app or summon Siri. The watchOS Smart Stack is accessed by turning the digital crown on the Apple Watch or by making the double-tap gesture with an Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Smart Stack is also receiving other improvements. The Smart Stack can suggest widgets based on time, date, location, daily routines, and more so it is even simpler to access features on Apple Watch when a user needs them. Live Activities are supported for keeping up with sporting events and such.
Other new Smart Stack widgets include severe weather alerts, Translate, Training Load (a new watchOS 11 Workout feature), Photos, and Distance.
watchOS 11 is currently being tested by developers. The new Apple Watch operating system will be released to the public this fall.
