Apple has ceased its iOS Developer University Program as of May 15, according to a notice on its website and an email sent to program members. (First noticed by MacRumors)
The iOS Developer University Program has been discontinued as of May 15, 2024.
Accredited educational institutions can enroll in the Apple Developer Program at no cost. Access the tools, resources, and support to build amazing apps for all Apple platforms so you can help students design and create apps with TestFlight, Xcode Cloud, GameKit, CloudKit, MapKit, and more.
The iOS Developer University Program enabled university professors and other eligible instructors to create a development team with up to 200 students, allowing them to create and test apps without paying the $99 annual fee for Apple Developer Program membership.
Accredited educational institutions can still enroll in the Apple Developer Program at no cost by submitting a fee waiver request.
Requirements
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a legal entity with a status as a nonprofit organization1, accredited educational institution2, or government entity;
- Not be an individual, sole proprietor, or single-person business;
- Not have signed the Paid Applications Agreement (Schedules 2 and 3 of the Developer Program License Agreement) to offer paid apps or in-app purchases through the App Store (or have terminated the Paid Applications Agreement if you signed it previously); and
- Not otherwise sell digital goods or services through any of your apps.
In addition, if you operate an alternative app marketplace on iOS in the European Union (EU), you may only distribute apps from developers who have also received this same fee waiver.
