Apple earlier today released the first betas of iOS 15.6, iPadOS 15.6, and macOS Monterey 12.5. In addition, Apple has also seeded the initial betas of tvOS 15.6, watchOS 8.7, and HomePod 15.6 to developers for testing.
The tvOS 15.6 beta is compatible with the Apple TV 4K (1st and 2nd generation) and the Apple TV HD. The new beta can be downloaded to a compatible Apple TV that has the proper profile installed, which can be done by downloading it onto the Apple TV using Xcode.
The watchOS 8.7 beta can be installed on an Apple Watch with the proper configuration profile installed, via the Watch app on the device’s attached iPhone. Go to “General” -> “Software Update” to install the new software. The Watch should have at least 50% battery life, be connected to a charger, and be within the range of the iPhone.
HomePod beta software is limited to a select number of testers and it is not widely available to all developers.
We don’t have any information on what’s included in the new betas, but we will update this space if and when we hear anything.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver Apple TV, Apple Watch, or HomePod, especially early betas of new operating systems. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
