Starting on Thursday, Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will begin to offer customers an iPhone XR loaner device when lengthy iPhone repairs are required in the U.S. and other regions.
An internal memo shared by MacRumors says that beginning November 4, Apple will begin offering an iPhone XR, replacing the iPhone 8 loaner previously offered. The iPhone XR is a bump up from the iPhone 8, as the XR boasts Face ID, Dual SIM support, and a newer A12 Bionic chip for better performance.
If it is determined that a customer’s iPhone must be shipped to an Apple repair center to be serviced, the customer can ask for an iPhone XR loaner handset to use until their regular iPhone is ready to be picked up.
As seen in Apple’s iPhone Loan Agreement notes that customers must return their loaner iPhone no more than 14 days after the date that Apple notifies them that their repaired iPhone is ready to be picked up.
