Apple has officially announced that Universal Control for macOS 12 Monterey will be delayed until “later this fall.” The feature allows Mac users to work with a single mouse and keyboard, or trackpad on their Mac and iPad simultaneously. Users can able to drag their Mac’s mouse seamlessly over to an iPad, allowing them to drag and drop content back and forth between devices.
The feature was completely missing in early macOS 12 Monterey betas, finally making an appearance in more recent beta builds, although it could not be activated.
Apple confirmed yesterday that macOS 12 Monterey will be released to the public on Monday, October 25. The new operating system update is free and will be available on compatible Macs.
Both devices must also be signed into the same iCloud account and must have two-factor authentication enabled. The devices can be connected wirelessly if they’re within 10 meters of each other (with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Handoff enabled), or with a USB-C or USB-C to Lightning cable.
