On Tuesday, Nikkei Asia published a report about delays in the production of Apple’s upcoming Apple Watch Series 7 due to the new Watch’s more complex design. The report claimed that one of the reasons for the delays is the wearable’s blood pressure measurement capabilities.
Bloomberg’s Debbie Wu and Mark Gurman later in the day published a similar story, which corroborated Nikkei’s main claims about the delays, but made no mention of a blood pressure sensor being one of the causes for the delay.
Now, Gurman has no put that rumor to bed, tweeting that there is “no chance” the Apple Watch Series 7 will have a blood pressure sensor.

Gurman’s remarks don’t necessarily preclude a blood pressure monitor in future Apple Watch releases, as it was revealed earlier this year that Apple is the largest customer of the British electronics start-up Rockley Photonics, which develops non-invasive optical sensors for detecting multiple blood-related health metrics, including blood pressure, blood glucose, and blood alcohol levels.
Apple is expected to hold a digital event in the middle of September, where the company is expected to unveil its new iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series 7 lineups.
