Samsung has a new weapon in its battle against the iPhone. The South Korean phone maker has launched an interactive website called “iTest,” which is designed to offer iPhone users a way to try out Android on a Galaxy device.
Users visiting the site on an iPhone are prompted to install a web app on their Home screen. (Visiting on a desktop computer prompts the user to use a displayed QR Code on their iPhone to visit the site.
Then, tapping the app icon on your iPhone’s Home screen launches into a simulated Galaxy Android smartphone home screen, providing a range of apps and settings options. Users can view the Galaxy Store, access messages and Android phone apps, and more.
The simulation even includes simulated text messages and phone calls that tell the user about Galaxy features, and a camera tutorial from photographer Logan Dodds that walks users through all of the available photography options.
While Samsung appears to currently only be promoting the “iTest” website in New Zealand, you can try it out from anywhere. We must admit, it’s a unique way for Samsung to possibly bring a few iPhone users into the Android fold.
