Japanese site Mac Otakara claims Apple is planning to hold an event in the second half of October, where it will unveil the new iPhone 12 lineup, the Apple Watch Series 6, and the much-rumored AirTags.
The report cites info from “Chinese Suppliers in making its claims. The report also claims Apple intended to release the AirTags around the same time as the 2020 iPhone SE, but the product was delayed.
Apple in July admitted that the iPhone will hit shelves “a few weeks later” than its normal September timeframe. The iPhone 12 lineup is expected to see release sometime in October.
Apple is expected to offer four iPhones in three different device sizes this year: A 5.4-inch iPhone, a 6.7-inch iPhone, and two 6.1-inch iPhones. One 6.1-inch model and the 6.7-inch model are expected to be higher-end iPhones, while the other 6.1-inch iPhone and the 5.4-inch iPhone will be lower-end models.
Mac Otakara‘s information conflicts with leaker John Prosser, who recently claimed Apple will switch it up a bit this fall, announcing their new Apple Watch and iPad devices during early September, while unveiling the new iPhone 12 lineup at a virtual event in mid-October. Apple has traditionally unveiled the Apple Watch alongside the iPhone, so that sounds a bit off.
Code for Apple’s Tile-like AirTags Bluetooth tracking devices have been spotted in iOS code as far back as iOS 13 beta releases, so Apple has been working on the tags for quite a while. Mac Otakara indicates AirTags will work with Apple’s App Clips feature that allows users to download small snippets of an app without downloading the entire app.
