Apple’s new iPhone SE is nearly identical to the iPhone 8, with a 4.7-inch LCD display, top and bottom bezels, a Touch ID Home button and a single-lens rear-facing camera. Now a new teardown video of the iPhone SE shows that it is also similar to the iPhone 8 on the inside.
A teardown video by a Chinese YouTuber (it has subtitles) was shared on Reddit on Thursday.
While most of the internal components of the iPhone SE are identical to those inside the iPhone 8, there are differences in select components. Differing components include the modem and Wi-Fi chip, the battery connector (which is the same one used in the iPhone 11), and the flashlight setup. The red camera module is different, as is the chip that powers the unit, which is the same A13 chip used in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.
The video shows how many of the components in the two smartphones were interchangeable, demonstrating how similar the parts are.
The $399 SE is available today, and pre-orders will begin arriving to customers today.
