Adobe is sending out invites to users to beta test the upcoming iPad version of its Illustrator app. The news comes via MacRumors.
Illustrator for iPad takes advantage of the iPad’s Multi-Touch and Apple Pencil features as input methods, and uses the iPad’s hardware, including the tablet’s built-in cameras. Users can take a photo of a hand-drawn sketch and the app will walk them through transforming the drawing into vector shapes.
The app saves all files in Adobe’s Creative Cloud, allowing users to start a project on their iPad and continue to work on it on their Mac or PC, and the workflow can also go the other way, starting it on a computer and continuing work on the iPad.
Adobe has scheduled the public launch of the iPad version of Illustrator but has not yet announced a specific launch date. Interested users can sign up for early access to the app on the Adobe website.
