Apple assembly partner Foxconn says it has reached its recruitment goals ahead of schedule and has enough workers to meet “seasonal demand” at its plants in China.
Nikkei reports the Apple supplier says all of its factories will be adequately prepared for launching Apple’s 2020 iPhone lineup.
Foxconn’s Chinese factories shut down for much of February, due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, which originated in China. Once the company’s factories began reopening, there were staffing shortages that stemmed from ongoing quarantines and travel restrictions, delaying device production, and factories were unable to operate at full capacity.
Foxconn announced earlier this month that it expected normal production to resume in March. The company assures that it has introduced rigorous measures to prevent infection. A total of 55,000 workers received PCR coronavirus tests, and over 40,000 workers underwent chest X-rays, says Foxconn.
The company is expected to hit a peak production period after July to manufacture the new iPhones for release in the fall.
