Apple has temporarily closed two more of its retail locations in China, due to concerns over the fast-spreading coronavirus in the country. The shuttered locations are in Nanjing and Fuzhou, China. (Via Bloomberg)
During Tuesday’s earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that one store location in Qingdao, China had already been shut down, bringing the number of closed stores to three. Many other store locations are operating under limited hours.
Apple plans to reopen the Nanjing and Fuzhou stores on February 3. The Qingdao store will reopen on February 4.
Apple employee travel to China is being limited to “business-critical” operations and the company is supplying care kits to its employees across China.
More than 6,000 cases of the coronavirus have been reported, mostly in China, though it has spread to other countries. Apple production partner Foxconn and other Apple suppliers have shuttered their factories until February 10 due to Chinese New Year and the outbreak.
