Apple has announced that its Apple TV app will be available for select Sony and Vizio smart TVs later this year. The announcement follows one that came earlier this week that select LG smart TVs would also be updated to offer the app.
The Apple TV app will allow viewers to use the Apple TV app to subscribe to the Apple TV+ streaming service, as well as other Apple TV channels. The app will also include access to the iTunes video library, which offers over 100,000 films and television shows.
The Apple TV app is already available on the iPhone, iPad, Mac, PC, Apple TV, select Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices, and select Samsung smart TVs.
Sony announced earlier this week that their new 4K and 8K televisions would support both AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, but made no mention of offering the Apple TV app on its new screens. Vizio rolled out AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support to a large number of their recent model smart TVs back in July 2019.
