Early reports from owners of the 16-inch MacBook Pro indicate the new macOS Catalina 10.15.2 update includes a software fix for the speaker popping noise issues that users were experiencing with the new laptop.
A reddit user reports that after installing the updates, the popping sound issue is no longer happening, even when the user deliberately tried to trigger it:

I’ve just installed the 10.15.2 update on my 16-inch MacBook Pro (i9 2.3 – 32 GB – 5500M 8GB) and I can happily report that (at least on my machine) the “Popping” is finally gone.
I’ve tried to trigger the popping in all the applications that used to produce the sound before updating to macOS 10.15.2 (VLC, Chrome, Safari with Netflix, Youtube and Prime Video), but I’m delighted to say that my MacBook Pro really doesn’t “POP” anymore.
Could someone with a 16-inch MBP check and confirm/deny if the 10.15.2 solved the problem for your machines too?

EDIT: I confirm that the issue is gone in Premiere Pro and After Effects too.
MacRumors reports its readers are reporting similar experiences. Readers Dextera, donawalt, and Lobwedgephil say their popping problems are entirely solved.
Just installed it over 10.15.1, ran about 6-7 different loud Youtube songs, tried the skip ahead/right arrow, and stopping songs, NADA! FIXED!
However, some users report that while the update has improved the issue, it hasn’t eliminated it entirely. Some report they are now hearing more muted popping sounds in apps like Chrome, while other say the popping had stopped in apps like Spotify, but not in others.
Almost immediately following last month’s release of the 16-inch MacBook Pro, some customers began to voice concerns about the popping noise issue in Apple Support Communities, Reddit, and elsewhere.
Apple published a memo to Apple Authorized Service Providers confirming the issue, and saying that a fix would be implemented in the near future.

When using Final Cut Pro X, Logic Pro X, QuickTime Player, Music, Movies, or other applications to play audio, users may hear a pop come from the speakers after playback has ended. Apple is investigating the issue. A fix is planned in future software updates. Do not set up service, or replace the user’s computer, as this is a software-related issue.
Tye key word in the memo appears to be “updates” plural, meaning it could require more than one update. We’ll keep you posted.
