Since the 2019 iPhones will be unveiled next Tuesday, its soon enough to start discussing the 2020 iPhone, right? Well, if the information comes from reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, you have to at least mention it.
Kuo, in a Friday note to investors, offered some predictions for Apple’s 2020 iPhone lineup. Kuo says next year’s iPhone lineup will feature an all-new form factor, and should use ultra-wideband radio tech to improve indoor navigations using a new generation of iBeacons.
Kuo says the biggest selling points for the 2020 iPhone lineup are:
- All-new form factor design
- 5G support
- Camera function upgrades
Kuo expects those changes to drive year-over-year growth to new highs.
This year’s iPhone lineup is widely expected to feature the same design as Apple’s current iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, excepting a new square rear camera array.
Kuo earlier this year predicted 5G support for the 2020 iPhone lineup, as well as rear time of flight (ToF) sensors. He also predicted next year’s top of the line iPhones will be offered in 5.4- and 6.7-inch sizes, instead of the current 5.8- and 6.5-inch iPhone XS and XS Max.
Kuo also today provided more information on UWB support that the says will arrive with the iPhone 11 lineup and he shared more info on the new iBeacons that will leverage the short-range radio tech could offer improvements to indoor navigation on the devices.
