Apple iPhone and Apple Watch users in Canada have something to look forward to, as Apple is preparing to bring Apple Card and Apple Pay Cash to Canada.
The Star reports the Cupertino firm filed for Canadian trademarks on both with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) on July 15. The CIPO later registered the Cash trademark on July 17.
While the Canadian trademarks for both Apple Pay Cash and Apple Card are moving forward, it could still be awhile before both products launch in the Great White North, as it typically takes up to 10 months for a trademark application to be reviewed for approval.
Apple may also need to find a Canadian financial partner, although it should be noted that the American version of the Apple Card is being handled by Goldman Sachs, which does have a presence in Canada, with offices in Calgary and Toronto.
Apple is expected to soon launch the Apple Card in the U.S., as the card has been in beta testing for the last few months. The card is expected to go live alongside the release of iOS 12.4, which is also in beta. iOS 12.4 should be released sometime in the next few weeks.
