The third developer beta of iOS 13 was released on Tuesday, and a new feature in the beta allows FaceTime users to appear as if they’re making eye contact during a call, even as they’re looking at the image of the other person on the call.
The new feature was demonstrated by Twitter user Will Sigmon (@Wsig), as seen below.

The new “FaceTime Attention Correction” feature, first spotted by Mike Rundle (via MacRumors) on Twitter, can be turned on and off in the FaceTime section of the Settings app.
Take note however, that the feature currently only appears to work on iPhone XS and XS Max devices in the new developer beta. The feature looks to reply on some type of on-the-fly image manipulation, so perhaps the feature requires the increased processor power offered by the latest iPhones.
Rundle supposed the new feature might appear in “years to come,” but he says he’s “pretty astounded” that it’s already making an appearance.
This is a feature I predicted would be coming in “years to come” back in 2017. Pretty astounded it’s already here. https://t.co/UT4aQgsIMN pic.twitter.com/jNTUbN1sOa
