Apple has ceased signing iOS 12.2 on the heels of last week’s iOS 12.3 public release. The move mean users are no longer able to downgrade to the iOS 12.2 release on devices that have been upgraded to iOS 12.3.
Apple is known to stop signing older versions of operating systems after it releases a public update, as part of an effort to encourage users to keep their devices’ operating systems up to date. When Apple stops signing a version of iOS, users aren’t able to downgrade to that build anymore with iTunes.
iOS 12.3 was released last week. iOS 12.3 includes AirPlay 2, which allows streaming of content from your iOS device to selected models of televisions from various manufacturers, and the new Apple TV app, which offers a fresh interface, and new functionality.
The upcoming version of iOS, version 12.4 is currently in the second beta and is being tested by developers and public beta testers. While there aren’t any notable forward facing changes, there are some behind the scenes changes to prepare for the launch of the Apple Card, which is scheduled to launch this summer.
