Earlier today Time Inc. published a new press release announcing that they’ll be publishing all 21 of their popular magazines (including Sports Illustrated, Time, Fortune, and others) in Tablet-ready formats for both the iPhone and Android tablets.
In addition to releasing all of their 21 magazines on tablets, Time has apparently also made a deal to bring subscriptions and single-copy sales to the Nook Color, although nothing was mentioned about iPad subscriptions.
The rollout will begin later this month, beginning with Fortune, People, Sports Illustrated, and Time, while other magazines will continue to roll out periodically through the end of the year.
Maurice Edelson, Executive Vice President and a member of Time Inc’s interim management committee made the following statement:
“Now is the time for us to make this bold commitment. In the coming year, there will clearly be many more consumers using tablets, accelerating demand for content and driving advertiser interest. We are putting ourselves in a great position to take advantage of these opportunities…Having our entire portfolio available on tablets will create a significant new digital reach for our advertisers.”
Exciting times for fans of these magazines – Once Time begins seeing the revenue from tablet subscriptions of their magazines, they’ll be kicking themselves that they didn’t do this much sooner! You can read the full press release here.
