Apple’s online store is down as of the writing of this story (6:30am CST). The company typically takes down the Apple Store website when it is about to make a change to its product lineup, meaning we may see new products later today.
Apple has several rumored new products said to be debuting soon, including a new low-cost iPad, and iPad mini 5, next-generation AirPods wireless earbuds, and its much-delayed AirPower wireless charging mat.
Although Apple has a March 25 media event scheduled, and these types of shindigs are usually where Apple debuts new products, the “It’s Showtime” event is expected to be service-focused. The Cupertino firm is expected to premiere its streaming televisions service, and a subscription news and magazine service.
As mentioned recently by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple’s announcing new products ahead of the event would emphasize the event’s focus on video and news services.
If Apple was to be planning, say, new iPad and iMac announcements for this week, it would make a real statement about how much it wants to focus its March 25th event on its news and video services.
