iOS 12 will be released to the public in a short time, and its predecessor, iOS 11, is installed on 85% of compatible devices.
The last time Apple updated iOS 11 adoption stats was way back in late May when iOS 11 was installed on 81% of devices. The long length of time between updates means that it’s hard to tell, but it’s likely that adoption of iOS 11 has slowed a bit in the last month or so, as users await iOS 12.
The last iOS 11 update was iOS 11.4.1, which hit devices back in July. The update fixed a few bugs and introduced support for USB Restricted Mode.
iOS 11 is installed on 85% of eligible devices, while 10% of users are hanging in there with iOS 10, and 5% are using earlier version of iOS.
Apple is widely expected to release the Golden Master of iOS 12 to beta testers on September 12, the same day they’ll debut their 2018 iPhone lineup. The new OS will likely be released to the public on September 19, two days before iPhones are expected to begin hitting shelves and being delivered to customers that pre-ordered on Friday, September 21.
