We all know that iOS games can be fun, and even downright addicting, but did you know that iOS games can help make children’s wishes come true? 9-year-old Owain Weinert of Seattle experienced just that when, after thinking about and fully sketching his idea for an iOS game, PopCap Games decided to work with him to create the game for real.
The result of Owain’s work with PopCap has resulted in a new game called Allied Star Police (App Store Link), which was released under PopCap’s experimental “4th & Battery” division. The game is both free and universal, and is a top-down arcade-style game combining tower defense and strategy-based gameplay.
Owain is apparently extremely happy with his creation, and had the following to say: “I have to say, my brother can’t stop playing it, my dad can’t stop playing it, and neither can I. This started off as a dream of mine, and now my friends and people all over the world can play my creation.”
The game was brought to PopCap’s attention through the fulfillment of a Make-A-Wish Foundation Request voiced by Owain, who has been suffering from Leukemia for over 2 years.
The game, Allied Star Police, is available now from the App Store (App Store Link). Further, you can learn more about Owain and make a donation to the Make A Wish Foundation by visiting this page on the PopCap Website, and you can visit Owain Weinert’s personal web page via this link.
