South Korean wireless carrier SK Telink has got a great deal for its customers. Well, for its customers that don’t mind using nine-year-old technology in the form of new in the box iPhone 3GS units.
Models will go on sale later this month from SK Telink, according to Korea’s ETNews. The phones were retrieved from a warehouse in their original packaging, including accessories, and simply tested to ensure the hardware was still intact and functioning.
The 3GS is unable to run any version of iOS older than iOS 6, so many modern apps and services will be unavailable for the handsets. However, users should be able to use the handsets to place and receive calls, send texts, and play music. What more could you ask of a handset that will sell for just 44,000 won (a bit over $40).
Repairs and accessories may also be difficult to come by, but when the device sells for $40, who needs repairs?
Considering an iPhone SE starts at 490,000 won in the country (around $452), many customers are liable to see the iPhone 3GS as a heckuva deal.
The Phone 3GS was discontinued by Apple in 2012. Apple has been known to continue to produce and sell older models of the iPhone in some markets, but SK Telink has them beat.
