1 in 3 Americans looking to buy a SmarPhone will purchase an iPhone 5. That’s according to a consumer report issued by PriceGrabber. The report went on to explain that 7% intend to purchase the iPhone 5 between launch day and the first week of release, while 14% will purchase in the first month and 30% in the first few months after the release but before the end of 2011.
Ironically, the main reason for wanting an iPhone 5 is to avail of longer battery life with 59% of those surveyed citing increased battery performance as their primary reason for purchasing an iPhone 5. iPhones have always suffered from poor battery life so it’s a bit strange that that many people presume the iPhone 5 will feature an improved battery.
55% want a lower price, while a larger screen, support for 4G, and a battery camera are also on the minds’ of consumers.
19% of those surveyed are planning on purchasing an Android powered SmartPhone with 7% and 6% wanting an MS phone and Blackberry respectively.
The majority of those surveyed expect the iPhone 5 to arrive this September. A recent report from BGR also pointed towards September for an iPhone 5 release.
