Following news that Apple is working on updating their keyboards to complement and highlight OS X Lion, I’ve come across a report detailing a little trick you can do to make your current pre-Lion keyboard work better in this Post-Lion world.
A free app called FunctionFlip will allow you to turn your individual F1 through F12 keys into standard function keys, which will them allow you to use an app like QuickSilver (or some other keyboard mapping software) to then remap the function keys to you liking.
While the latest version of the app was designed for Snow Leopard, I’m happy to report that they nevertheless work extremely well in Lion. You can download FunctionFlip here, and in case you don’t have QuickSilver or something similar, it can be downloaded from this link.
